The last month of 2017. A look back at what has been accomplished (not as much as I would like!) and a look forward to 2018. In 2017, I experimented more on creating scenery, accessories, and storage than on painting miniatures. I am expecting some additional hobby material next year that I believe will make painting miniatures more comfortable.
The celebration of Reaper's 25th Anniversary was a popular event for me. Reaper continues this for 2018 with Dungeon Dwellers. Like the 25th Anniversary, every month will feature a new model that customers can get for free for purchasing a certain amount on their webstore. The only difference is that these new figures are not a one time release.

[Log] Workshop 4 - Magnetized Transport and Tray
I have been thinking for a while now on a custom system for storing, transporting, and displaying my miniatures. Over the past years, I browse through the internet looking at others' custom storage and transport systems. In addition, I considered commercial storage and transport system products. This got put on the sideline when I backed a Kickstarter project for a modular transport tray. In short, that campaign failed to produce a product. So I am back to working on that custom system.
I decided that my custom system will all have some type of magnetic receptive surface since all my painted miniatures have some form of a magnet placed underneath its base. The image above is my work in progress modular transport container.

"The Titans have escaped their prison in Tartarus to wreak havoc and devastation upon the world. Seeking revenge on their jailers, they attacked the home of the Gods - Mount Olympus itself! The battle was long and closely-fought, but in the end the Gods were victorious. Even so, the battle cost them dearly.
The surviving Gods are greatly weakened and have lost their immortality. The only way to regain this power is to assimilate the energy stones called Omphalos. [Log] Workshop 3 - 6" x 6" Tiles, Texture Samples, and Custom Tray
In the first two Workshop logs, I wrote about my first time experience using texture stamps and casting molds. In this log, I show the completion of 6" x 6" tiles that were made using both a casting mold (Your Board Tile Mould) and a texture stamp (Flagstone). They were painted with a gray color scheme with varying amount of sand or dust covering portions of the floor. I am quite happy with how they came out, but not sure if they will be used as I had originally intended - as dungeon tiles. I planned to write a [Workshop] entry on how I made them and also an [Archives] post.

In my quest to collect everything for Ninja All-Stars, I ended up getting a lot of extra copies. I plan to use those extra copies as a future painted gift and also to experiment with different color schemes.
Painting the miniatures for this game will likely not start anytime soon. This first entry, though, is a compiled list of the components I currently have, what I am still looking to get, and what I have been working on.

Last updated on January 4, 2018 (This entry will be updated periodically). This blog entry acts as a card index for Warhammer Underworlds. There are 437 unique cards in the Shadespire Card Set. Based on the core set and unboxing videos it appears the breakdown of the cards should be:

September 2017 Reaper 25th Anniversary Model |
The official end of Summer 2017 and the beginning of Fall 2017! I am several days late in getting this posted, but it does not mean I have slacked off from my miniature/gaming hobby.
What I have been working on:
Three of my original goals were: 1) to paint more miniatures to completion; 2) completely transfer my hand-written notes onto the blog and my computer; and 3) Better organize all the miniatures, tools, and gaming components I have collected over the years. I am still painting (slowly!). I have taken a pause to transfer my notes for other priorities. I am, however, making a dent into organizing my unassembled miniatures.

[Log] Rail Raiders Infinite - Double-Dollars and Bases
For Rail Rail Raiders Infinite, I have been working on the Double-Dollar coins, determining the best way to remove the miniatures from their bases, and researching what type of base texture to use for this sci-fi western game.
My first goal was to paint the Double-Dollar tokens, the currency and victory condition for winning in the Rail Raiders Infinite game. These coins have a considerable amount of detail that is somewhat hard to distinguish and appreciate in its unpainted form. A simple paint job really brings out the details. The mmber on the coins were painted with a lighter/brighter color compared to the rest of the coin.

[Log] Workshop 1: Working with Texture Stamps
I have used "Log" entries to detail my experience of painting miniatures to completion. This [Log] Workshop entry is different from previous ones as it collects my thoughts on practicing and experimenting with techniques and materials. The Workshop posts differ from This and future [Log] Workshop posts provide more first hand experience, for better or worse, of me trying out things differing from Workshop posts that provide easy reference and more "polished" instructions to obtain a desired result. In other words, a [ Log] Workshop entry will usually be posted before the corresponding [Workshop] entry, similar to [Log] entry posted before an [Archives] entry.
In this first [Log] Workshop entry, I go over my experience on the materials I have used with Texture Stamps.

[Log] Rail Raiders Infinite - Outline
This is the start of my project log for Ninja Division's Rail Raiders Infinite. This is a space western competitive board game, pitting raiders (gray miniatures) against each other for loot on a space train. To impede the Raiders are the Lawbots (blue miniatures).
For the most part, the miniatures and overall aesthetic is quite adorable. The rules are not overly complicated making it more accessible for a gaming group with a wide age range. Thus, even before I received my Kickstarter pledge for this game, I decided to prioritize painting the game pieces to play with the nephews and nieces.
Those that pledged for the complete product line received a total of 70 miniatures with 32 unique sculpts (20 Raiders and 50 Lawbots). Below I outlined the order I will attempt to completely paint all the Rail Raiders Infinite gaming components.

[Games] Rail Raiders Infinite - Train Cars and Cards Index
The first option "is to replace original cards and cars with train cars and cards from [the expansions] before you start playing. When you make this swap, you must remove all of one type of card or car and replace them with a type of card or car with an equal number of cards. So, to use a Loot card from [the expansions] that has two copies, you must remove an original Loot card that has two copies."
The second option is to "add all of the cars and cards from [the expansions] to their respecitve decks and just play with larger decks and a bigger pool of train cars."
Below, I have compiled a master list of the train cars and cards to help facilitate swapping them out.

My Hobby and Blog in April 2017
April has passed and we are into May now...
CMON - Rising Sun Kickstarter ended and the next CMON Kickstarter will be Zombicide: Green Horde. This will be compatible with Zombicide: Black Plague rather than classic Zombicide. My ancient fantasy niche collection pretty much is occupied by Games Workshop and Reaper Miniatures. As with Black Plague and Massive Darkness Kickstarter, it is highly unlikely that I will be backing the Green Hordes Kickstarter.

My Hobby and Blog in Feburary 2017 - Late!
Two weeks late for the February monthly update. I have not done much in this hobby as my free time was spent playing games and reading. So this is a relatively brief post.
First, Reaper Miniatures monthly 25th Anniversary miniature for February and March are Domur and Tara. I plan to get some of the Bones plastic figures to get the free monthly 25th Anniversary figures. Most likely plan to purchase miniatures that would fit in a narrative for a short or long adventure.
Second, the Rum & Bones: Second Tide Kickstarter shipped the core game to their US backers. I received my copy in mid February. The next two waves will be the rest of the expansions and accessories which I expect to get in mid to late March. The kids seem to like MOBA style games so this may be of interest to them!
Lastly, Relic Knights 2nd Edition Kickstarter got launched at the end of February. This will be my fourth project by Ninja Division/Soda Pop Miniatures that I will be backing. I have recently invested into these miniatures so I would like to see advances in this game system and background. I am hesitant to back any additional projects from Ninja Division as all of their projects I backed have not been fulfilled yet. Overall, I have now backed 12 Kickstarter products during their campaigns and 2 additional Kickstarters post-campaign.

My Hobby and Blog in January 2017
One day late, but here is a small update to the blog on what was on mind for January
"I can say that we've taken some of our favorite models from the last 25 years (and some new ones!) and asked the sculptors to lavish them with some TLC, and update some of them with brand new sculpts and re-imagine those heroic (and villainous) characters, making them better than ever!"
25 Years of Reaper Miniatures!
A wonderful way to celebrate their 25th anniversary, Reaper Miniatures will be making special edition miniatures for each month of 2017. According to Reaperbryan from Reaper Forum:"I can say that we've taken some of our favorite models from the last 25 years (and some new ones!) and asked the sculptors to lavish them with some TLC, and update some of them with brand new sculpts and re-imagine those heroic (and villainous) characters, making them better than ever!"
