September 7, 2015 to September 14, 2015 - This past week I finished painting all 12 knights and their horses. This week, I will put the final touche to complete them--gluing, basing, and sealing. As I wrapped up on painting these miniatures, I started preparing the next set of miniatures for painting--the adventurers from the the D&D Castle Ravenloft game. Each separate projects will have their own logs.

Day 9 to 14 Painting
Finished painting the remaining 10 knights (2 lords and 8 imperials). Finished 4 by Day 10, and the last 6 by Day 14. The knights were all painted exactly the same. I tried to varied the unit through making the horses different
Day 15 to 16 Painting

The next two days were spent completing the horses. There are 4 variations to horse skin color (palomino, chestnut, and 2 other brown variants), 3 variations to tail color (black, brown, and yellow), 2 variations to hoof colors (black and white), and a variety of white leg markings. That should slightly make the unit have subtle differences between individual models. One new method I tried to do is apply paint with two brushes--dab some paint onto the horse with one brush and the other brush draws the paint out to blend--on the horse skin. Not sure if I did it correctly, but I kind of like how it look than just trying to paint layers on. Below, is a representation of the 4 horse skin final paint schemes:
Tau Sept Ochre base / Gryphonne Sepia wash / Tau Sept Ochre layer / Iyanden Darksun highlight
Calthan Brown base / Ogryn Flesh / Vermin Brown layer
Calthan Brown base / Devlan Mud wash / Bestial Brown layer
Khemri Brown base / Devlan Mud wash / Bestial Brown layer
The mouth section of horse were given a Badab Black wash to make it slightly different in color to the other skin portions of the horses.
I found it more fun to paint individual models than a unit of models; however, I have a lot more satisfaction seeing a bunch of models being finished!
