Warhammer Fantasy Armies 4-ic Project Plan

Updated on September 14, 2015.  This post is about my Warhammer Fantasy Armies Project. The original project was called Warhammer Fantasy Battalions which was to paint the minimum amount of models needed to field a legal force for all 15 armies in 8th Edition and Age of Sigmar. Recently on Warseer, I was asked for a detailed list of what I plan to paint for each army. While writing up that list, it made me think of what I would like to do after completing these starter armies--which is to continue building the small force into a respectable army. The long term plan of building and painting these armies is divided into 4 phases.  The first phase is the original plan of 1 hero and 3 units per army.  Altogether, I like to refer to this plan as the 4-ic project plan:

  • Phase 1: The Basic Army Core - have at least 1 Hero and 3 units of Infantry or Cavalry painted.
  • Phase 2: The Magic Army Expansion - includes at least 1 Wizard or Priest; 1 unit of Infantry or Cavalry; plus 1 additional unit in the Phase 1 to 2 categories painted.
  • Phase 3: The Fantastic Army Expansion - includes at least 1 Monstrous Infantry/Cavalry, Chariot, or War Machine Unit; plus 1 additional unit in the Phase 1 to 3 categories painted.
  • Phase 4. The Epic Army Expansion - 1 Hero or  Monster; plus 1 additional unit in the Phase 1 to 4 categories painted.
These are just loose guidelines and the actual models listed under each army below is not set in stone. Items highlighted in yellow are models that I do not have in my collection.

  1. Never got around to thanking you on Warseer for posting these lists, but I'd rather the thread be about your painting than my question. The Four Phases is a fairly novel idea, and probably better than what I'll focus in on. I'll add getting around posting my lists sometime this week, if I find the time for it.

Also, your painting has gotten way better since you originally posted at the start of your thread.

    Cheers! -SuperHappyTime

    1. Thanks for the encouragement! Your advice on Warseer was very helpful to me. I look forward to see what you have been up to and your plans. The best thing about Warseer, in my opinion. is their project logs forum.

      Sincerely,
      Akai
