[Projects] Santorini

2019 started off well. I finished painting all the sculpts for the board game Santorini and its expansion, The Golden Fleece. This is the first game that I have completed painting all the miniatures! It is not much, but it is progress in my never-ending quest to paint my collection of miniatures.
Santorini sculpts from the both the core game and the Golden Fleece expansion.
Total: 11 Items Painted
Completed: February 1, 2019
Core Game - 6 Workers (3 color-coded sets of 2 workers)
Golden Fleece Expansion - 4 additional Workers and 1 Golden Fleece Statue

For the 10 Workers there are 2 sculpts. I wanted to make each worker different from each other; therefore, I decided to paint each miniature with a unique color scheme, focusing on their clothes, skin, and hair.
The 5 Male Workers, Front and Back

The 5 Female Workers, Front and Back

In game, each player have 2 Workers on their team. To make sure the lack of color cohesion between the painted miniatures does not impair game play, I magnetized each miniature so that they can be attached to color-coded bases.
The Workers attached to colored bases.

Magnetic sheet underneath the Workers' bases and steel on the colored bases.
For the workers, I attached them to 20 mm circular bases (Reaper Miniatures) with a magnetic sheet underneath. I attached the magnet using regular Gorilla Glue, which expands with the application of water. This expansion allows the the thin magnetic sheet to be flushed with the bottom of the base. To make sure the glue does not expand passed the base, I taped the bottom of the base while the glue expands. The color bases (2 of each color) were made from 25 mm RPG bases from Reaper Miniatures. Galvanized steel was glued to them, allowing the magnetized workers to adhere to them.
Using these colored bases in our games, we had a tendency for people to detach from the base if held close to the attachment point. However, holding the head or body of the sculpt, the color bases did not came off.

We have played numerous games now and the colored bases works well to differentiate each player's team.
