Narratives

I have collected miniatures for different purposes. At first, it was to use them solely as gaming pieces. Later on, I purchased some miniatures specifically as display pieces. Finally, I collected miniatures to expand and embellish on home brew world settings.

For many years, I have been taking different parts of established world settings that I liked to create my own home brew worlds. The goal for these worlds is to tie different games together and to tell a collaborative story with family and friends. Role playing games work best for story telling purposes, but it also can be done with other games through some type of campaign system. The stories will focus on adventures into the unknown, epic encounters, survival, and/or rivalries.

This page acts as an index to articles on the backgrounds and stories of my home brew worlds and campaigns. As of right now, I have plans for five different world settings. Of all the different things I am doing with this blog, this part most likely will have the least amount of updates within the immediate future.

Ancient World Setting

For the five settings, the ancient world setting is the one that I have thought about the most. So far, this is the only setting that I have came up with a unique home base for the characters to live in while not off on adventures: the town of New Kingsborough and the village of Hillven. In this setting, the first unique adventure will focus on a dungeon encounter. Something in the back of my mind for a while is a quest to rescue four children from New Kingsborough. The backbone on this setting will be drawn mostly from Wizard of the Coast's Dungeons & Dragons and Games Workshop's Warhammer game settings and systems. The first games that have contributed to this setting are from the Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Tile System.

Industrial World Setting

The emphasis on this setting is the interaction between Earth and alternate dimensions, realms, or planes of existence. The threats faced by the protagonists are not common knowledge to the general public. Adventures will take place in both a frontiers an an urban setting. This setting will use Wyrd's Malifaux, The Other Side, and Through the Breach as the main inspiration. Other settings and games that will flesh out this home brew world includes Flying Frog Production's Shadows of Brimstone, CMON's SMOG, and Pinnacle Entertainment Group's Deadlands Reloaded and Rippers Resurrected. The first game to contribute this setting is the The Obsidian Gate campaign adventure for the the Through the Breach RPG system.

Modern World Setting

So far, the main emphasis in this world setting will be humans trying to survive an apocalypse due to their own curiosity (science experiments gone wrong), corruption (evil manifesting from within), and a foreign threat (alien invasion). So the protagonists will range from "normal" humans to those with super-power abilities. This setting is mostly inspired from CMON's Zombicide. I think I will use the upcoming Zombicide Chronicles RPG system and Pinnacle Entertainment Group's Savage Worlds as the basis for a role playing aspect of this setting.

Futuristic World Setting Narrative

The futuristic setting will be adventures in outer space with emphasis on human conflict and space exploration of the unknown. Role playing game supplements that I plan to use to build this setting includes: Modiphius' Mutant Chronicles for human civilization on planets within our galaxy; Infinity for human civilization of planets outside of our galaxy; and Starfinder for locations outside of human civilization. Elements from Warhammer 40,000 will be part of locations outside of normal human civilization.

Multiverse Setting

This is a more recent idea that came from the video game Chrono Trigger and the chibi miniatures of Soda Pop Miniatures/Ninja Division. There are many chibi miniatures created for different games and brands. I want to use them as a alternate universe that sometimes characters get sucked into accidentally. This allows mixing and matching of characters from very different genres.
