They were used in a special Dungeons and Dragon encounter for the nephews and nieces. All four of them are Reaper Miniatures. Sophie the Sage is made from the original Bones plastic material. The Clauses are metal and the Krampus is the new plastic material Reaper is calling Bones USA. Unfortunately, I did not accomplished the goal I set at the beginning of the year. I am happy, though, that I got some painting done. Here is hoping (again!) for more models to be painted in 2021!<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWGg-IE4o-4ZRl0XMPAJsis2QiLKDG3yVFe6fKBXrOuMSsTzHZHa2IUf8gJpSbt1_QJ1TwqIkyiPt-I1lbK_W_7gveLWM0KowxqJndHh-v98O2IYN_c_Zx4_s0bLyokZ8y6Pu_noWTKimp/s2048/IMG_1865.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1030" data-original-width="2048" height="322" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWGg-IE4o-4ZRl0XMPAJsis2QiLKDG3yVFe6fKBXrOuMSsTzHZHa2IUf8gJpSbt1_QJ1TwqIkyiPt-I1lbK_W_7gveLWM0KowxqJndHh-v98O2IYN_c_Zx4_s0bLyokZ8y6Pu_noWTKimp/w640-h322/IMG_1865.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Reaper Miniatures (Left to Right): Sophie the Sage, Mrs. Claus, Santas Claus, Krampus</td></tr></tbody></table><br /></p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989972863835546632.post-92076826446819468962020-07-23T14:45:00.001-07:002020-07-23T14:45:59.844-07:00First Update for 2020<div>It has been an interesting year! It marks 10 years since I started the hobby of modelling and painting miniatures! I took many breaks in between, but by the end of 2019, I reached some milestones in the hobby. I have painted my 50th unique miniature sculpt and completed 100 models total. If I include the terrain pieces, game boards, and accessories, I had completed over 200 items! It would be great to start the new decade completing 50 unique sculpts and 100 models in just one year. So that is a goal I have set for 2020!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989972863835546632.post-11723633061623926332019-10-21T08:05:00.002-07:002019-10-21T08:05:39.614-07:00Fall 2019 UpdateOctober is here and
I have moved into a new house! That took some time from painting and updating
the blog. But now I have my own dedicated hobby room! I still need to organize
the room, but the increased hobby space is already proving very useful. For example,
I do not need to clear space each time I want to work on something different.<br />

This is just a short
entry. While I have not wrote any new blog posts since March, I have been
updating the blog of my progress and time spent in the hobby. I am ramping up
on productivity and hope to post more regularly in the coming weeks.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989972863835546632.post-16680300963128670362019-03-01T14:49:00.001-08:002019-03-01T14:49:16.914-08:00[Projects] Santorini2019 started off well. I finished painting all the sculpts for the board game Santorini and its expansion, The Golden Fleece. This is the first game that I have completed painting all the miniatures! It is not much, but it is progress in my never-ending quest to paint my collection of miniatures.<br />

<div>
For the workers, I attached them to 20 mm circular bases (Reaper Miniatures) with a magnetic sheet underneath. I attached the magnet using regular Gorilla Glue, which expands with the application of water. This expansion allows the the thin magnetic sheet to be flushed with the bottom of the base. To make sure the glue does not expand passed the base, I taped the bottom of the base while the glue expands. The color bases (2 of each color) were made from 25 mm RPG bases from Reaper Miniatures. Galvanized steel was glued to them, allowing the magnetized workers to adhere to them.</div>
Using these colored bases in our games, we had a tendency for people to detach from the base if held close to the attachment point. However, holding the head or body of the sculpt, the color bases did not came off.<br />
<br />
We have played numerous games now and the colored bases works well to differentiate each player's team.</div>

I completed just 15 miniatures this year; however, I look back at 2018 as a transitional year on how I spend my time in the miniature hobby. In the past years, I attempt to make this blog into an all encompassing record of my time spent with the hobby. That was too lofty of a goal, and I lost sight of my original intentions for the blog: to get me painting more miniatures! I hope what I started in 2018 will result in me being more productive and that I will paint models on a more regular basis. So what happened in 2018 for me? I started using Pinterest to gather references and inspiration for my own projects. I am painting with the Hobby Holder. Finally I have joined Facebook miniature painting communities to give me that small push to try to complete painting models.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<h3>
Pinterest</h3>
Pinterest is a great way to gather and organize images for reference and inspiration for ones' projects. For example, when I wanted to paint the wolf/bear fur cloak on a figure, I searched for images related to it as reference. Another benefit I found is that most of my painting are for games and models that have been out for a while. Thus, there are many examples of paint schemes posted on the web that I can use for inspiration. I have been organizing the Pinterest boards by game or miniature company line and planned to post my own models into these same boards to show the finished projects.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Hobby Holder</h3>
The Hobby Holder - a grip to hold onto while painting miniatures - was funded through Kickstarter and fulfilled earlier this year. I have become a big fan of this product and the Hobby Holder system has become a central way for me to organize my paintings. I have purchased multiple copies of the Hobby Holder to be used for batch painting similar models, made my own custom grip mods to go with the threaded base and stability bar, and also made several cap stands (and counting!) to have an entire painting project all nicely organized at the workstation. Next year, a larger stability bar will be released through a second Kickstarter project. The larger stability bar is a product I was hoping to get for a long time, which would allow the use of a stability bar with larger models.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Facebook Group</h3>
Halfway through 2018, I decided to join and be more active in Facebook Group communities. It is a nice way to keep tabs on painting progress and to know that I am not the only one that struggles to paint models. It is also inspiring to see people that paint a great amount of miniatures, too! I made a small goal for 2018 which was to paint every remaining month in 2018. I was able to complete that goal and will be increasing my goals for 2019: 1) same as 2018, complete a model each month ; 2) complete a box set of models for gaming with family ; 3) complete the painting of a set of models for gaming with the local community<br />
<br />
<h3>
The Blog</h3>
The blog originally was an attempt to record every single detail of what I have done in the hobby. There are better ways to do that, than on the web. I will use this blog to write about topics that may be of interest to others beside me and post completed projects.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989972863835546632.post-28825280988687669682018-08-01T16:45:00.000-07:002018-08-01T16:45:18.188-07:00Midsummer Update<div dir="ltr">
As mentioned in the last update in <a href="https://thefourheroes.blogspot.com/2018/05/my-hobby-and-blog-in-first-four-months.html">May</a>, I had started work on various things. Since then, I have completed a set of figures (from Ninja All-Stars) to be used as trophies in a summer tournament I run for my nieces and nephews. The plan is to make this a yearly multi-game event when the kids are on summer vacation. I also painted up a "Better Luck Next Time" figure for the person that finished last. That person will be given some advantages for the next tournament.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Trophies for a summer tournament I run for my nieces and nephews.</td></tr>

The trophies were a hit with the nephews and nieces and I plan to make two more sets of trophies with a different paint scheme and base design. One of the new set is for another yearly tournament that will be played during winter. The third set is for regular tournaments, held on a monthly basis. I likely will not make them this year though.<br />

Early in the year, I backed a Kickstarter for the <a href="https://thefourheroes.blogspot.com/2018/01/log-workshop-5-hobby-holder.html">Hobby Holder</a> product. I really enjoyed using it. Over six months have gone with me making and trying out various accessories/adapters to be used with the Hobby Holder. I am now trying to organize/manage hobby projects based on the holders/accessories:<br />
<br />
I have 11 Hobby Holders and likely will get more. Miniatures on these will be painted first. I also made a large base that was initially meant to hold Hobby Holders when not in use. However, I found it to be more useful to hold very large sculpts for painting.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br />
Currently, on the Hobby Holders:<br />
<ol>
<li>Custom Holder: Ashardalon</li>
<li>Black Handle/Copper Base - Rollo (Soda Pop Miniatures, Relic Knights extra sculpt)</li>
<li>Marigold Yellow Handle/Pink Base - nothing</li>
<li>White Handle/Midnight Blue Base - nothing</li>
<li>Fresh Green - Wrath of Ashardalon hero</li>
<li>Sky Blue - Wrath of Ashardalon hero</li>
<li>Orange - Wrath of Ashardalon hero</li>
<li>Red - Wrath of Ashardalon hero</li>
<li>Purple - Wrath of Ashardalon hero</li>
<li>Black - nothing</li>
<li>Copper - nothing</li>
<li>Silver - nothing</li>
</ol>
</div>
<br />
The hobby holders not currently in use will likely be used for 2 metal Reaper Miniatures and their parts.<br />
<br />
As the hobby holders use common caps to attach to it, I made four terrain-textured cap trays that can hold 5 to 6 caps on each one. I plan to make two more trays allowing 40+ miniatures to be planned/worked on at various stages. Right now, they are currently not being used.<br />
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Finally some miscellaneous items I have completed. I painted my first Guild Ball for my niece. I also made 4 deck trays out of craft sticks for card games such as Dominion.</div>

At this time of my life, I am more interested in organizing games and events for my nieces & nephews over playing games for myself. Nevertheless, the painting, modelling, and assembly of miniatures is something I see myself doing for the rest of my life. These last several months I have been been making a lot of accessories to be used in conjunction with the Hobby Holder. With the school year almost over, I am finishing up on "trophies" for home tournaments I plan to run for the nephews & nieces. This year, I backed the Kickstarter projects Zombicide Invaders and Godtear. I think those are the last "new' game lines that I will invest into and will only make purchases to games that I have already invested into.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989972863835546632.post-46937146655151527482018-01-31T20:27:00.004-08:002018-01-31T20:27:44.292-08:00My Hobby and Blog in January 2018<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>

A short entry for this month. For 2018 I need to dial back on Kickstarter projects and focused on my collection that I currently have. This is something I should have been doing since the beginning of this blog....anyways! Mythic Battles Pantheon and Blackwater Gulch were recently fulfilled. I am expecting SMOG: Rise of Moloch and Rising Sun to games in the next couple of months.
What remains are the Modiphius projects, Ninja Division projects, Wyrd's The Other Side, Reaper Bones 4, Terraincrate and Tablescapes.<br />
<br />
For January, I got to play Wrath of Ashardalon scenario where the dragon makes its first appearance in the game. We lost! While digging through my storage boxes, I found the Heroscape board game that I bought many years ago for my nephews and nieces to play when they were old enough to understand the rules. We spent the weekend playing that mostly. They seem to enjoy both the building and combat aspect of the game. While the product line has been discontinued, all the unit stats are online. That makes it easy to proxy figures.<br />
<br />
Transformers Generations The Prime War Trilogy toys have rekindled my fondness for the 1980 Transformers. The modular aspect of this toy series seem to make it easier to be adapted for a homebrew tabletop skirmish/rpg game. I would like to get the Combiner gift sets (Bruticus, Menasor, Computron, and Superion). In addition, I want to get a Leader class Megatron to go with the Optimus Prime I already have!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989972863835546632.post-30349690350076115432018-01-15T08:06:00.001-08:002018-01-15T08:10:04.374-08:00[Log] Workshop 5 - Hobby Holder<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

In December, I received a production sample of the Hobby Holder. The Hobby Holder comes from a Kickstarter project that I backed late last year. I was lucky enough to try it out before my actual pledge arrives. Overall, I am very happy with the product and plan to be using it for most of my miniature paintings.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
It feels very durable. The only way I can see it being broken is if you were intentionally trying to break it or through some extremely rare freak accident.<br />
<br />
The Hobby Holder provides both stability and more surface area to hold onto comfortably while painting a miniature. That bulk helps someone like me that have clumsy fingers from accidentally dropping the miniature (as much!) while painting.<br />
<br />
While I never had issues with strain in my hands, a secondary effect of using the Hobby Holder is less strain on my neck and back. I tend to hunch over so that I can use my elbows and the table for support while painting. So far from my brief use of the Hobby Holder I don't hunch over as much. In fact, I tend to lean back on my chair.<br />
<br />
Here are some images I took:<br />
<br />
1. The obligatory image of the Hobby Holder next to my previous method of holding a miniature as I paint -<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-WpM8S5DpvC8Z4kH1WunpGhTiJoKZRVNqxGPEP_w9gesYRBfQlvKQrNGR5ta6AZVWzNWDw7Sj7X_xb6mTh2hAaO4tNCBVezMd1k5CJeZfkLZruA0-ObwUV8mL2Dxec94gkIetIdNr8FtX/s1600/hh_2017_01.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-WpM8S5DpvC8Z4kH1WunpGhTiJoKZRVNqxGPEP_w9gesYRBfQlvKQrNGR5ta6AZVWzNWDw7Sj7X_xb6mTh2hAaO4tNCBVezMd1k5CJeZfkLZruA0-ObwUV8mL2Dxec94gkIetIdNr8FtX/s640/hh_2017_01.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
2. I can see myself switching how I hold the Hobby Holder, but I found this grip to be the one I likely will be using the most -<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5uFVWYzVmw08aYlMVJhOWAmF4vo0W2A0Po7FvQHS8rAId_9vNht3KaEUpa-MNNtb_vSG-FHqaHHo_e-lnBuZ9NAp4WCC8LgP7IORrh_LORkhoP2uRvUC32nVMaWlgaOE6J1a5GW77twMY/s1600/hh_2017_02.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5uFVWYzVmw08aYlMVJhOWAmF4vo0W2A0Po7FvQHS8rAId_9vNht3KaEUpa-MNNtb_vSG-FHqaHHo_e-lnBuZ9NAp4WCC8LgP7IORrh_LORkhoP2uRvUC32nVMaWlgaOE6J1a5GW77twMY/s640/hh_2017_02.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
It allows me to turn the model as needed while comfortably holding the miniature for a long time. The handle acts as a support by resting in the crease between my thumb and index finger -<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCDDGjZOTyXjo9E1I5epz0oflbCSDTH95WbdtkF19Fe9JbTfNTHTtnUUrJu5vxltcLx1dfNfBu9Yid72wqqkKltzdXywIkZC5AcwqT-HXsLA3oija68j3K7C9VN7lVc-SPE3HESVxlEqfF/s1600/hh_2017_03.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCDDGjZOTyXjo9E1I5epz0oflbCSDTH95WbdtkF19Fe9JbTfNTHTtnUUrJu5vxltcLx1dfNfBu9Yid72wqqkKltzdXywIkZC5AcwqT-HXsLA3oija68j3K7C9VN7lVc-SPE3HESVxlEqfF/s640/hh_2017_03.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
3. I feel like I will use this grip when I want to use the handle of the Hobby Holder to steady my brush -<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgto8xf7Bk7UQ61lHizLO0ruVxNnkCQq9PQxjH7P34_jgqFM8YRP6-VcT9izgEh7sJwx2bSSHW3y8PPTdKdr-WreLvGw0s5tqJNNWxQYnz-KOzZ6nk_OsPCQ4rW9ehyphenhyphent9q8guX7I15wRaKt/s1600/hh_2017_04.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgto8xf7Bk7UQ61lHizLO0ruVxNnkCQq9PQxjH7P34_jgqFM8YRP6-VcT9izgEh7sJwx2bSSHW3y8PPTdKdr-WreLvGw0s5tqJNNWxQYnz-KOzZ6nk_OsPCQ4rW9ehyphenhyphent9q8guX7I15wRaKt/s640/hh_2017_04.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Before I used the Hobby Holder, I steady my brush by resting the wrist of my painting hand on top of the wrist of hand holding the miniature. I will have to change the current location of my light source as the handle sometimes block the light.<br />
<br />
My first use of the Hobby Holder was with the regular sized models on 25 mm to 30 mm bases. With larger models the grip I used above is not as practical. In the future, I will try the Hobby Holder in the "grip" configuration which was intended to accommodate larger models.<br />
<br />
It took me a while to figure out how to easily remove the handle from the base -_-;;. So I went back to the Campaign page of this Kickstarter...watched the GIF animation...chant silently "push one end of the clip, then pull the handle" and it becomes a piece of cake on removing handle. It is also a lot easier to remove the handle when the bottle cap is not attached to the base -_-;;.<br />
<br />
Switching out the bottle cap is very quick. Because of that, I think those using bottle caps will be happy with just one Hobby Holder. I pledge for five Hobby Holders intending to share them with the nephews and nieces. With so many Hobby Holders...I think I can start an assembly line with them to paint lots of miniatures quickly! :P
Again, I am very happy with the final product.<br />

I have a tendency to look at large sets of data and attempt to identify general patterns from it. These observations does not translate directly to actual improvement in playing the game. It might, however, give players some additional insight to the game which then would allow players to make better informed decisions. Hopefully some of you will find the information of some use or of interest.<br />
<br />
<b>Actions that have similar properties tend to have a Priority Score Value as summarized below:</b><br />
1 - Fighter Pack Power Grab Actions<br />
3 - Fighter Pack Strike and Blast Actions<br />
5 - Technique Pack Strike, Grab, and Blast Actions / Heavy Block Actions<br />
6 - Mode and Move Actions<br />
7 - Medium Block Actions<br />
9 - Light Block Actions<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>A note on some of the analysis done in this entry. I mainly looked at Priority Score and Primary Effects value of the action cards. At several sections I did consider Secondary Effects when summarizing patterns. I also surveyed both Technique Action Cards and Fighter Action Cards together. This might skew the numbers and patterns observed. At times, I take note of the differences between the Technique and Fighter Actions Cards from each other. One major difference between these actions is the ability to boost the Action's Primary Effects with Power Dice. <b>The ability to boost an Action's Primary Effects (such as Damage Dealt) is found only on some Fighter Action Cards. None of the Technique Action Cards have that ability.</b><br />
<br />
<h2>
Action Cards Overall</h2>
There are 282 Unique Actions in Way of the Fighter. 154 of them are Fighter Action cards. The other 128 are Technique Actions. 8 of the Technique Actions are unique to Candy and ND-2000. The Priority Score of Action Cards range from 1 to 9 (mean 4.85, median 5, and mode 6).<b> For each action type, the highest to lowest Priority Score averages: Blocks (7.2), Moves/Modes (6), Strikes (4.2), Grabs (4), and Blasts (3.9).</b><br />
<br />
Approximately 65% of Action Cards deals Damage. <b>For Action Cards that causes a constant Damage, the Primary value ranges from 0 to 3 (mean 1.52, median 1, mode 1). </b>These values does not include Action Cards that scales with number of Power Dice or other unique factors.<br />
<br />
For majority of those Actions that use Power Dice, the Damage Dealt can reached up to 5 Damage Dealt. Secondary Effects and Combos may lead to higher total Damage. Exceptions include Severina's Killer Snap, ND-2000's Self-Destruct Overload, and ND-2000's Roadkill Actions. <b>The Priority Score value of attacks that use Power Dice to increase damage never exceeds 4.</b> The main exception being ND-2000 Self-Destruct Overload.<br />
<br />
<h2>
Strike Actions</h2>
Strike Actions are the most common action cards, making up 37% of all actions in the game.<br />
<br />
<b>Overall, Strike Actions have a similar Priority Score value as Grab and Blast Actions. The Strike Actions that can deal Power Dice-Boosted or Scaled Damage have a Priority Score of 3 or less.</b> The exceptions being Watanna's Twin Rising Uppercut and Brahm's Berzerker Rage.<br />

<b><br /></b>
<b>Overall, Blast Actions have a similar Priority Score value as Grab and Strike Actions. Blasts that are capable of doing 3 or more damage tends to have a Priority Score of 3 or less.</b> The exceptions being ND-2000 Self-Destruct Overload and Ying Pei's Chi Eruption.<br />

The last month of 2017. A look back at what has been accomplished (not as much as I would like!) and a look forward to 2018. In 2017, I experimented more on creating scenery, accessories, and storage than on painting miniatures. I am expecting some additional hobby material next year that I believe will make painting miniatures more comfortable.<br />
<br />
The celebration of Reaper's 25th Anniversary was a popular event for me. Reaper continues this for 2018 with Dungeon Dwellers. Like the 25th Anniversary, every month will feature a new model that customers can get for free for purchasing a certain amount on their webstore. The only difference is that these new figures are not a one time release.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
2017 is marked with fulfillment of a couple of Kickstarters that I backed. Rum & Bones: Second Tide fulfilled completely. I saw some additional fulfilment for my very first Kickstarter: Infinity RPG. That one will take a while to be completely fulfilled. Two Kickstarters from Ninja Division were partially fulfilled, Rail Raiders Infinite and Way of the Fighter. Here is hope both of those pledges will be completed next year. Mythic Battles Pantheon is on track to be delivered completely in early 2018. This is mostly with the company needing to deliver the entire pledge as multiple packages. I also came to accept my first Kickstarter campaign that was a failure of the company to fulfill the pledges.<br />
<br />
2018 is a year that I anticipate majority of the Kickstarter projects that I backed will be delivered. Blackwater Gulch, SMOG Rise of Moloch, Rising Sun, and the Hobby Holder are expected to be shipped completely early next year. Super Dungeon Legends, Relic Knights, Siege of the Citadel, The Other Side, Terrain Crate are projects I hope will have some of the products fulfilled next year.<br />
<br />
2018 is a year of expansions for two games I am excited for that were released in 2017: Warhammer Underworlds and Aristeia! These expansions should round out those two games with more warbands or contestants in the future.<br />
<br />
To the first miniature company that I grew up with, I am thrill to see the reveal of the third Greater Daemon of Chaos model. Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle now have a plastic version of these iconic monsters. What remains is Slaanesh!

Over the past years, I browse through the internet looking at others' custom storage and transport systems. In addition, I considered commercial storage and transport system products. This got put on the sideline when I backed a <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/angrymojogames/mojo-tray-system-modular-transport-in-style/description">Kickstarter project for a modular transport tray</a>. In short, that campaign failed to produce a product. So I am back to working on that custom system.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My work in progress modular transport system for my miniatures.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I decided that my custom system will all have some type of magnetic receptive surface since all my painted miniatures have some form of a magnet placed underneath its base. The image above is my work in progress modular transport container.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><h3>
Custom Transport Container</h3>
I went with Sterlite's Stack and Cary Storage Boxes for 4 clear plastic containers that can easily latched to each other for safer transport. For bottom containers to latched to the top container, the lid is removed. Only the container at the top can have a lid. Each container floor has a 28-gauge steel sheet attached to it. At first, I tried using Apoxie. The Apoxie adhere well to the metal but did not act as an adhesive between the metal and the polyurethane/polyethylene-based container. I finally decided to use E6000 adhesive, allowing 24 hours for it to cure.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDe2GxyOoSyP3Ag7RK1sDT93UHFRo48WD5R7d8rjjwHSwbRzvQTyeuFMO3CJz2NpiHw8bgxPXMe-QHfW7EsvfzbSo3qU8J0zVFwjoKrsIW8WM-Lra5Ovaj6lxl23mW-n8yUNUDlf-XiQHu/s1600/log_2017_012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDe2GxyOoSyP3Ag7RK1sDT93UHFRo48WD5R7d8rjjwHSwbRzvQTyeuFMO3CJz2NpiHw8bgxPXMe-QHfW7EsvfzbSo3qU8J0zVFwjoKrsIW8WM-Lra5Ovaj6lxl23mW-n8yUNUDlf-XiQHu/s640/log_2017_012.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Galvanized steel sheet glued to the polyurethane/polyethylene-based container.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
These containers are ~3.5" tall within. That size is big enough for majority of my models, but some of my models are still too tall. I decided to cut out the bottom of one of the containers. I did this by using a hand vice to drill holes and then cutting along those holes.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6jkjepF3dqMf1y9Z62PIFUlUJ28QmblRAT36rjyB6PzbiX2wnGXioMlGGCty4Pp8lo9gelJijzly2Bc6hCuyMGnXRAQ2U-iVFLeNPQzU0jOxcUn1jjq3T0nJaCdEaPIG87zS1FmUG5hru/s1600/log_2017_013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6jkjepF3dqMf1y9Z62PIFUlUJ28QmblRAT36rjyB6PzbiX2wnGXioMlGGCty4Pp8lo9gelJijzly2Bc6hCuyMGnXRAQ2U-iVFLeNPQzU0jOxcUn1jjq3T0nJaCdEaPIG87zS1FmUG5hru/s640/log_2017_013.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bottom of container with holes drilled in a rectangular outline.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Placing the cut container above a regular container, allows the transport of taller models. You can see this in the two top containers in the first image in this entry or in the example below.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">These knights are able to fit in the bottom container when the the adjacent container on top have its floor cut out.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
When I don't need to transport tall models, I can place the metal sheet glued to the cut-out floor back to the container. My plan is to insert magnets to each corner of the cut-container to prevent the steel sheet from moving around when the containers are accidentally jostled around,<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The cut-out floor attached to a steel sheet.</td></tr>

The final touch to make it more pleasing to the eye and prevent possible cuts from the sharp metal edges. I plan to use foam sheet and tape to address those issues.<br />

<h3>
Custom Insert Tray</h3>
<div>
In the previous blog entry, I mentioned working on a tray with an insert. I decided to try making a tray insert for miniatures on 25 mm bases first. I first cut out the openings for the ~ 22 mm ceramic magnets and then mapped out where the other openings will be made.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Foam sheet mapped out on where the holes will be cut.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
After cutting open the holes, I test out ease of the miniatures being placed within the opening and being taken out. This is important as I planned to sculpt a texture terrain on top of the foam sheet.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The foam sheet with the opening cut out.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The tray has four magnets underneath. Thus, I can place the tray securely into my custom made transport containers.<br />

<i>"In The Others, one player will be the Sins Player, representing the embodiment of one of the Seven Deadly Sins, summoned by the Hell Club to bring the apocalypse that will destroy the world. The rest of the players will be Hero Players, working together as a group of special F.A.I.T.H. agents charged with fighting back the horrific invasion. Their battleground is Haven, a large metropolis on the southern coast of England. The Sins Player will summon monsters to corrupt, burn and destroy the city, while the heroes will use their strength, their skill, and the city itself to fight back.
